Elegant Verdicchio di Matelica is named after the town near the Apennines and produced also in the Riserva and Passito versions.
The wine is obtained with the same vines as Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi, but has slightly different characteristics: a more intense color, more fruity flavors, a deep and lasting aroma produced by the higher altitude and some differences in the geological conformation of the soil.
Its average alcohol content is 12°.
Both types of Verdicchio are well suited to aging; in fact, an excellent sparkling wine with natural fermentation can be obtained from Verdicchio grapes with the Charmat and Classic method.
