Located at the top of a hill in the midst of the green countryside, Scapezzano offers an amazing view of the coast and the sea, especially from the spacious balcony in the center of the village.
The elevated position of the small village offers an extraordinary view of Mount Catria, Mount Nerone, Mount San Vicino and, on some very clear days, Mount Vettore; this made it a perfect post for controlling the surrounding lands in ancient times.
The walls dating back to medieval times, along with the Torrione and the Clock Tower, are still visible.
Until the mid-twentieth century, crafts mainly related to agricultural production and work flourished in Scapezzano. Even today the countryside is lavish with vegetables and fruit, and you can stop and have lunch in rural houses. Excellent extra virgin olive oil comes from three mills, the oldest of which is right in the village.
