Located in the area that also includes the Frasassi Caves, the park is the green heart of the entire Marche region.
The Natural Park of Gola della Rossa and Frasassi is the largest protected area in the Marche region, a hilly sub-mountain area of the upper Esino river, between the Umbrian-Marche Apennine ridge and the internal Marche ridge.
These lands of inestimable natural and landscape value have an environmental heritage rich in geological, botanical and faunal attractions, as well as numerous archaeological, artistic and architectural testimonies.
The rugged and wild landscape is ideal for birds of prey, including the golden eagle, the kestrel, the peregrine falcon, while the beech woods and the thick undergrowth are the kingdom of foxes, wild boars, badgers, squirrels and porcupines. The clear waters of the Sentino stream welcome trout, barbels, eels, chubs and rare prawns.
This jewel of nature is full of specific paths and itineraries of varying difficulty, to be discovered while mountain-biking, trekking or simply walking in the open air in close contact with nature, surrounded by lush and multicolored vegetation.
From the park you can also admire the ancient neighboring villages and enjoy unparalleled rural tranquility.
